Railway Transport Museum

Railway Transport Museum

The Railway Transport Museum, or the open-air museum of railway equipment, is a unique exhibition of historical locomotives and rolling stock that introduces visitors to the development of the Ukrainian railway from its origins to the present day. Opened in 2011, the museum has become a true magnet for enthusiasts of technology, history, and travel.

On its exhibition tracks are displayed steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, electric locomotives, passenger, and freight cars of various types and periods, service wagons, special machinery, and many other fascinating objects. These reflect the stages of formation and growth of railway transport in Ukraine. Each exhibit has its own story — from legendary steam engines that carried passengers in the 19th century to modern locomotives that still operate on the tracks of Ukrzaliznytsia today.

The museum is located on Track 14 of Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi Station, and it can be easily accessed through the concourse between the Central and Southern Stations (the entrance is closer to the Southern Station). This is a place where you can not only see real railway machines up close, but also feel the spirit of the era when the railway became a symbol of progress. It was a force that united the vast spaces of the country.

Tickets to visit the museum can be purchased at the station ticket offices. It is a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to spend time in an educational, engaging, and inspiring way — by touching the living history of the Ukrainian railway.
