Desiatynna Square Garden

Desiatynna Square Garden

The Desiatynna Square Garden is a cozy space in the very heart of ancient Kyiv, where urban history blends with unhurried leisure. Located next to the remains of the foundations of the Church of the Tithes and the former fortified citadel of Prince Volodymyr, it preserves the atmosphere of a place of power. Here, it is easy to imagine what Kyiv looked like a thousand years ago, as every slope and every path leads to important historical landmarks — St. Andrew’s Church, the National Museum of the History of Ukraine, and Andriivskyi Descent.

The central highlight of the space is the scenic terrace, which offers one of the finest views of the old Podil district and the Dnipro River valley. It is a beloved spot for photographers, tourists, and locals who come here to watch the sunrise or take in the evening cityscape. From this viewpoint, one can clearly see the contours of Kyiv’s hills, the river panorama, and the historic quarters preserved in their original scale.

The garden is part of a pedestrian route connecting Mykhailivska Square, St. Andrew’s Church, and Andriivskyi Descent. It is a place to rest in the shade of the trees, listen to street musicians, and feel the spirit of the city that once grew on these hills. Modern installations, benches, and a well-maintained landscape make the garden comfortable for daily strolls, but its greatest treasure remains the view — quiet, majestic, and unmistakably Kyiv.
