Cats of Zolotovoritsky Park

Cats of Zolotovoritsky Park

Zolotovoritsky Park is known not only for its historical landmarks, but also for… cats. They live here permanently and have already become the park’s charming “living mascots.” The most famous among them is Pantaleimon the Cat. He once lived in a nearby restaurant, but eventually moved into the park and quickly became a favorite of both Kyiv residents and tourists. According to a city legend, if you make a wish and stroke Pantaleimon, it will surely come true.

Another whimsical Kyiv creation is the “fork cat,” which has “clung” to a tree and now watches passersby with great attention. It symbolizes the city’s ironic and kind character, its love of humor, and its fondness for unexpected artistic details in the urban space.

The cats of Zolotovoritsky Park have long become part of local folklore: some people come here specifically to find Pantaleimon, others — to take a photo with the creative “fork cat.” Together, they add a special sense of coziness and homelike warmth to this historic corner of Kyiv, reminding us that even among grand monuments of the past, there is room for kind legends and fairy-tale stories.
